What hypnotherapy can do…

Hypnosis & Hypnotherapy are hugely popular for the treatment and alleviation of a variety of physical and psychological symptoms. Hypnotherapy can be used to make positive changes within the subconscious mind using the power of suggestion, (also known as suggestion therapy). The person receiving hypnotherapy is guided into a lovely relaxed state, and positive suggestion is then used to create change to problematic or undesirable behaviours, habits, and fear-based issues such as anxiety and phobias.

At no time does the person experiencing hypnosis lose control in any way. Indeed, hypnosis is seen as a state of heightened awareness. You can open your eyes at any point, and no one has control over your mind for anything other than positive and beneficial change.

“Stress, anxiety and depression are caused when we are living to please others.”

Hypnotherapy is commonly used to help treat such issues as anxiety, phobias, depression, confidence, low self-esteem, weight loss, smoking cessation, food related issues, phobias and insomnia.  Hypnosis is also widely used as a successful treatment for areas such as pain management, social anxiety, exam nerves, sexual problems, IBS, migraines, tinnitus and addictions.

HYPNOTHERAPY FOR ANXIETY

During our lifetime, many of us will experience times when we feel overwhelmed, stressed, worried or nervous about something. Usually, these feelings are fleeting, and they disappear as quickly as they appear. For those with anxiety, however, these feelings last longer and can be much more intense.

People experiencing anxiety, may find that they avoid certain situations that can cause them to feel anxious. Indeed, on occasions, this can make everyday tasks difficult to undertake. Such is the case with social anxiety, also known as social phobia.

There are several different techniques and tools that can help with anxiety, one of the most commonly used is hypnotherapy. Hypnotherapy for anxiety aims to seek the root cause of the problem and change your relationship with anxiety. Counselling is also incredibly helpful in treating anxiety, particularly when the client is aware of what is triggering the anxiety in the first instance.

Anxiety related conditions are the most common variety of psychological afflictions a person may experience, they account for a major percentage of visits to doctors and psychiatrists. These conditions are not the result of personal weakness or even character flaws. They can be caused by a combination of factors that can be easily resolved with help from the right counsellor or hypnotherapist.

HYPNOTHERAPY FOR FEARS & PHOBIAS

A phobia is an intense, irrational and uncontrollable fear of an object or situation. If you have a phobia, you’re likely to know that your fear is out of proportion to the reality of the threat but logical argument doesn’t help overcome your anxiety.

It's good to know that you can effectively overcome fears and phobias with hypnosis, because such anxieties are extremely common. More than 10% of people will experience a phobia at some time in their lives. From spiders to flying, from a fear of being sick (Emetophobia) to a fear of birds or heights, dentists to open spaces, there is nothing we can't develop anxiety or phobias about.

Happily, hypnosis provides an extremely effective treatment for these problems.  It retrains your mind to respond differently to the feared object or situation. Hypnosis for phobias works by detaching the stimulus (trigger object) from the emotional response (fear) and 'updating' the brain with a new, more realistic response.

Call us today to find out how we can help you overcome your fear of phobia.

HYPNOTHERAPY FOR CONFIDENCE & SELF ESTEEM

Have you ever met someone who, despite constant reassurance and approval, lacks confidence in their skills or abilities? Or perhaps you know someone who thinks they are fantastic at what they do, despite other people telling them otherwise?

This happens because our subconscious mind holds a set of beliefs about us that stay the same, regardless of external factors. So, a singer who believes deep in their subconscious that they have a terrible singing voice, will likely avoid performing, even if people tell them they have a great voice

The subconscious mind – our “inner voice” – can feel like it controls how we feel about ourselves.

Our subconscious thoughts can be an enthusiastic supporter, telling us to feel good about the way we look and our abilities. Or the subconscious can be a fierce critic, filling our minds with negative, unhealthy thoughts and beliefs.

Overcoming these negative thoughts and beliefs can seem to be a real challenge. These thoughts are automatic and deeply embedded in our belief systems. You look in the mirror and the subconscious tells you not to like what you see. It happens unconsciously, automatically. In other words, low self-esteem is often the result of flaws in our distorted belief systems.

Of course, as with any distorted belief system, we are not aware of how distorted that belief system is, until we challenge those thoughts and beliefs.

But what if these thoughts could be quieted, or better yet, removed altogether, by challenging those thoughts and beliefs systems. That is how hypnotherapy can help, allowing you to gain control over our inner voice and re-train it to be more supportive, positive and helpful?

Call us today and start to feel happy and confident again.

HYPNOTHERAPY FOR DEPRESSION & LOW MOOD

Depression is when you are experiencing a low mood for a long time, making it difficult for you to carry out your usual everyday activities. The condition can affect you in different ways and may be mild, severe or somewhere in-between. The level of severity will depend on how much depression is interfering with your day to day life.

If you are suffering with depression, you may be fully aware of positive steps you can take to improve your life (such as exercise, social interaction and healthy eating), however you may lack the energy, motivation and resilience to make these changes.

Everyday things we normally take for granted in life can suddenly seem overwhelming. Your whole future may appear so bleak that nothing matters anymore. You may feel so exhausted that you have simply given up. Hypnosis as a depression treatment can help. Hypnotherapy and mindfulness can help you to change your mind-set so that you can develop a more positive inner voice.  Training you to manage your thinking differently and challenging beliefs you once held.

Hypnotherapy can help you to become more confident and develop a more positive mental attitude. It can also help you sleep better and increase your motivation for movement and exercise.

HYPNOTHERAPY FOR A FEAR OF FLYING

Become a Calm, Relaxed & Confident Flyer

Your conscious, or reasoning mind can know that flying is statistically the safest mode of transport and yet, as soon as a flight is booked, the dread in the subconscious mind builds. You picture the plane experiencing turbulence, or worse still a crash! Those thought often manifesting in panic attacks during take-off or at any time during your flight.

A fear of flying is like any other fear: it is created by the mind. Our conscious minds know that we are far more likely to die in an accident travelling to the airport, and yet our subconscious mind is petrified of being suspended in the sky, with no control over what happens. A fear of flying is very much a control fear.

Overcoming this fear is all about calming the irrational subconscious mind down and removing the fears that live there. By replacing habitual fearful thought patterns, you can approach air travel with a newfound confidence and calm.

At the Hampshire Hypnotherapy & Counselling Centre we can help you to relax and look forward to your flight or the holiday you may have booked already! Call us today to find out how.

HYPNOTHERAPY FOR CHILDREN

A child’s life is full of discovery and of learning. But that discovery and learning can sometimes also be very stressful for children. As parents we can sometimes forget this. While as parents we are busy taking care of life’s events, we can sometimes lose sight of the effect that those events can have on our children. That is of course until an issue arises with the child.

As parents as want the best for our children and want them to be as happy as they can be, enjoying life to the full. When they aren’t as happy as you would like them to be, turning to professional help is often the best answer.

One of the reasons that hypnotherapy for children can be such a good choice is that children make good use of their imaginations. Their therapist will have little difficulty in using this ability to help your child deal with the issue that is troubling them.

The session might include using stories, adventures, meeting a hero or even character from a favourite TV programme or film who advises you what to do, and these are all ideas that are easily accepted by young children. Even an older child can often be open to using their imagination, but as they are already more sophisticated in their thinking, we would format their treatment accordingly.

It is important for each child to feel comfortable with their hypnotherapist or counsellor and that the therapist specialises in working with children. At the Hampshire Hypnotherapy & Counselling Centre, we have several team members who are highly experienced in working with children of all ages. Call us today to find out how we can help you and your child.

HYPNOTHERAPY FOR SLEEP PROBLEMS

We all know that sleep is vital for a healthy lifestyle alongside diet and exercise. Good quality sleep, that allows you to feel alert during the day, is critical to your health and wellbeing. However, getting that good night’s sleep can be easier said than done.

If we don’t get enough sleep – for whatever reason – then it impacts on our behaviour. Ongoing bad sleep can have so many difficult-to-deal with side effects that can run into all parts of life.

Here are some amazing sleep related statistics:

 ·         In 1910 the average person slept 9 hours a night.

 ·         Roughly 20% of people have a sleep disorder.

 ·         Since 1985 the percentage of adults getting less than six hours sleep each night has increased by 31%.

 ·         97% of teenagers get less than the recommended amount of sleep.

Hypnotherapy is a popular way of tackling deep-rooted sleep issues. It works by altering the way that the previously programmed subconscious mind has learnt to behave. Hypnosis can also help lower anxiety and thus allow for a clearer, calmer mind.

Call us today to start to get the great night’s sleep you have always dreamed of!
